Reflecting on a Decade of Success
It’s our 10th birthday anniversary, and when I reflect on what has made us the darlings of cosmetic medicine on the Sunshine Coast, it isn’t what you might think. It isn’t that The Cosmetic Studio Noosa was the first nurse-owned and operated clinic on the Sunshine Coast or that I am one of Queensland’s most experienced Cosmetic nurses.
Nor is it that I previously co-owned a cosmetic clinic with a business acumen and credentials to match; quite the contrary. I put The Studio’s endearing longevity and success to something far more meaningful than my achievements alone.
The True Recipe for Success: Loyalty
Since opening our doors in 2014, more than a dozen nurse-owned cosmetic businesses have sprung up on the Sunshine Coast, offering an assortment of cosmetic treatments and services.
They say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. Still, one of the fundamentals that cannot be replicated or imitated, the recipe to our success, is our instinctive driver to earn your loyalty!
Building Trust and Respect
You don’t earn loyalty from your staff and clients without setting a tone of mutual respect and trust. I entrust each team member to deliver their best daily and appreciate everyone who walks through our doors.
I don’t measure success in monetary terms, so don’t place profits over people. Instead, I encourage my team to be transparent and honest and build relationships with our clients, which have been the cornerstone of our approach.
This simple philosophy has been reciprocated in allegiance, contentment, and stability within the team, which invariably translates to years of building enduring client relationships. I believe this sets us apart and should be celebrated ten years on.
Against All Odds: Starting a Business in Your 50s
So, as a single, middle-aged woman starting her own business in her mid-50s in a predominantly male-dominated medical industry, I took a risk starting my own business against all odds, with our Nurse Maddie by my side, a Receptionist and Dr Ash, our Prescribing Doctor.
Weathering the Storms Together
Yet, despite the many challenges, such as the pandemic and the impact of this economic downturn on business, we remained steadfastly true to our commitment, placed faith in the people around us, and continued to love what we do and do it well.
The hard work and dedication have paid off, and we have grown to a team of 12 bright, wise, vibrant women. And we’ve been repaid with your loyalty and continued support. To quote Aristotle, ‘The whole is greater than the sum of its parts!’

That is why The Cosmetic Studio Noosa is still going strong ten years later. We measure our success by the happiness within our work family, your incredible feedback and reinforcement that we are doing things right.
I feel blessed to be surrounded by many amazing women and men who keep returning for more of that feel-good magic, the unique blend of relaxed, professional service and personalised care we strive to provide.
