SQT Bio-Microneedling
Needle-free skin renewal for face and body in Noosaville
What is SQT Bio-Microneedling?
SQT Bio-Microneedling is a skin renewal treatment that uses microscopic spicules instead of needles. The spicules come from a freshwater sponge, and we massage them into your skin by hand.
Each spicule is far finer than a microneedle. Millions of them create tiny channels in the surface of your skin, and that prompts your skin’s own repair and renewal response.
There’s no pen, no device and no numbing cream. The hands-on part takes around 15 minutes, and your full appointment is about 45 minutes, including an in-chair mask.
How does SQT work?
The spicules settle into the upper layers of your skin and stay there for up to 72 hours. For those three days they keep prompting your skin to renew itself, which is why it can still feel prickly or tingly after you’ve left the clinic.
Over the following week, older surface cells shed and fresher skin comes through. Underneath, your skin’s collagen response carries on for weeks, which is why the results build across a course.
We use four SQT formulas, each made for a different skin goal, and match the formula to your skin at your assessment. Find out more below, where we walk you through all four phases, from treatment day to fresh skin.
Four SQT treatments, matched to your skin
Every SQT treatment uses the same spicules. The formula changes, so we can target the concern that matters most to you.
Revitalising: for uneven pigmentation, sun damage, dullness and skin tone that has lost its glow. A good fit for dry or sensitive skin. See Pigmentation and Sun Damage.
Resurfacing: for acne-prone skin, acne scarring, Enlarged and Open Pores and rough, uneven texture. Made with oily and combination skin in mind.
Anti-Ageing: for hydration, firmness and Fine Lines and Early Ageing. It adds four peptides, including Matrixyl 3000, and usually means little or no peeling.
Body Clarifying: for congestion, blemishes and uneven texture on the back, chest and shoulders. Brushed on with a soft silicone brush to cover larger areas.
SQT can be used on most skin types and tones, and on the face, neck, décolletage and body.
It also feels different from needle-based treatments. Expect a prickle rather than a pinprick, and no numbing cream to wait on.
Treatment Approach
Every SQT treatment at our Noosaville clinic starts with a skin assessment by our nurse-led team. We look at your skin up close, ask about your skincare, medications and recent treatments, and confirm which of the four formulas suits you.
We then work the spicules in by hand and send you home with the recovery products recommended for you, plus a written aftercare plan. If anything worries you while your skin settles, call us and we’ll talk you through it.
The four phases of SQT
SQT works in four overlapping phases. Here's what's happening in your skin at each stage, what you'll feel and what to do.
From treatment day to fresh skin
Phase one: spicule application
Treatment day: After your skin assessment, we massage the spicules into your skin by hand. Millions of them settle into the upper layers and create tiny channels.
It takes around 15 minutes and there’s no numbing cream. Most people describe a prickly, tingling feeling rather than pain.
You’ll leave pink or flushed, and your skin may feel warm or tight. For the first two days, splash your face with water only and use the recovery serum we give you, morning and night.
Phase two: basal cell activation
Days 1 to 3: Basal cells sit at the bottom of the epidermis, the outer layer of your skin, and they’re the cells that make new skin. The spicules stay in your skin for up to 72 hours, prompting those cells to get to work.
That’s why the tingling carries on for a couple of days after your appointment. Redness settles gradually, and some mild swelling can happen.
Skip exercise, saunas, hot spas and swimming for the first 24 to 48 hours, and stay out of direct sun.
Phase three: collagen production and remodelling
The weeks that follow: The tiny channels set off your skin’s natural repair process. As it repairs, your skin builds new collagen and supporting tissue, which is what gradually improves texture, firmness and the look of scarring.
This part can’t be rushed. It carries on well after any peeling has finished, and each treatment in a course builds on the one before.
Daily SPF protects that new collagen, and it matters even more under our Queensland sun.
Phase four: epidermal repair
Days 3 to 7: As the outer layer renews, older cells shed. Your skin may feel dry, tight or itchy, and many people flake or peel.
Some peel a lot and some barely at all, and not peeling doesn’t mean the treatment hasn’t worked. If we’re treating pigmentation, spots can look darker for a few days before they lift and settle.
From day three, start a gentle cleanser and a zinc sunscreen. Leave the flakes alone, and from about day seven fresher, smoother and brighter skin comes through.
The difference between SQT and traditional microneedling
Both treatments trigger your skin's renewal response. How they do it, and how your skin feels afterwards, is quite different.
Spicules, not needles
Our Dermapen Skin Needling treatment uses a pen with fine needles that create controlled channels to a set depth. The stimulation happens during the treatment and stops when it ends.
SQT uses spicules that are worked in by hand and stay in the skin for up to three days. The stimulation carries on after you leave, which is why the prickly feeling lingers and why peeling often shows up a few days later.
Neither one wins across the board. Dermapen gives us precise depth control for scarring and lines, while SQT suits people who want a needle-free option, or who are treating texture, pigment or breakouts over a wider area like the back.
If firmness and loose skin are your main concern, Genius RF Skin Tightening works deeper again. We’ll talk you through all three at your assessment.
Body Clarifying for back and chest breakouts
Breakouts don't stop at the jawline. Our Body Clarifying treatment is made for congested, blemish-prone skin on the body.
Not just for your face
Body Clarifying uses the same spicules with a formula made for oily, congested body skin. It’s applied with a soft silicone brush, which makes it easy to cover larger areas like the back and shoulders.
The formula contains naturally derived ingredients and botanical extracts chosen to help balance oil, calm the look of redness and support clearer, smoother-looking skin.
It’s a good option before summer, a wedding or anything that means a backless dress or swimwear. Under the Noosa sun, that’s most of the year.
The face formulas can also be used on the body. If your concern is pigment or texture on your chest, arms or hands, we’ll match the right formula to it.
Who SQT suits, and when to wait
SQT suits most skin types and tones. There are times when it's better to wait, and we'll always tell you.
Right skin, right time
SQT is a good fit if you’re dealing with:
- uneven skin tone, pigmentation or sun damage
- acne-prone or congested skin, blackheads and enlarged pores
- acne scarring, stretch marks and rough texture
- fine lines, dullness or dehydrated skin
- congestion and blemishes on the back, chest or shoulders
Breakout-prone skin is usually fine to treat, and our Resurfacing formula is made for it.
We’ll suggest waiting if your skin is sunburnt, broken, infected or significantly irritated. The same goes if you’ve recently had a peel, laser or another intensive skin treatment.
Tell us about any medical conditions, allergies, medications, supplements and the skincare you’re using. That’s how we confirm SQT is right for you, and which formula to use.
We don’t diagnose skin conditions. If your acne is severe, painful or not improving with good skincare, see your GP or a dermatologist first, and we’re happy to work alongside their plan.
Your SQT aftercare
Good aftercare keeps your skin comfortable and protects your results. You'll get a written plan, and these are the essentials.
Let your skin do the work
- Splash your face with water only, morning and night, for the first two days.
- Use the recovery serum we give you from day one, morning and night, until it’s finished.
- Start a gentle cleanser from day three.
- Skip moisturiser for seven days unless we’ve told you otherwise.
- No acids, retinoids, scrubs or other active skincare for seven days.
- Avoid exercise, heavy sweating, saunas, steam rooms, hot spas and swimming for the first 24 to 48 hours.
- Stay out of direct sun and use a zinc sunscreen from day three.
- Don’t pick, scrub or pull at flaking skin. Let it shed on its own.
- Sleep on a clean pillowcase and drink plenty of water.
- Hold off on waxing, peels, laser and other skin treatments until we confirm your skin has settled.
Sun protection matters even more under our Queensland sun, especially when we’re treating pigmentation. UV exposure can darken pigment and slow your recovery.
We’ll let you know when you can go back to makeup. If redness or swelling is getting worse instead of settling, call us on (07) 5447 4227.

Frequently Asked Questions
Learn More
Here are some FAQ's about SQT Bio-Microneedling. If you have any other questions, please give us a call or request a Consultation today.
Does SQT hurt?
Most people describe a prickly, tingling feeling rather than pain, and no numbing cream is needed. The application takes around 15 minutes.
That prickle carries on for around 48 to 72 hours while the spicules keep working. It fades as your skin settles.
How long does it take to heal after SQT?
Most skin settles within four to seven days. The tingling and pinkness ease over the first two or three days, then dryness and flaking show up around days three to seven.
You can follow each stage, and what to do at each one, in the four phases above.
What are the side effects of SQT?
The common ones are redness, warmth, tingling, mild swelling, dryness and flaking. If we’re treating pigmentation, spots can look darker for a few days before they settle.
If redness or swelling gets worse instead of better, call us straight away so we can check in.
How many SQT treatments will I need?
We usually recommend a course of four for the Resurfacing, Revitalising and Anti-Ageing formulas, and three for Body Clarifying. We’ll confirm the number and the spacing at your assessment, based on your skin and what you’re treating.
Texture, tone and brightness are often the first changes people notice. Acne scarring, pigmentation and fine lines take longer and build across the course.
Between treatments, a Healite LED session is a gentle way to support your skin’s recovery.
How long do SQT results last?
The renewal SQT triggers is your own skin’s, so the improvement in texture and tone can last well beyond the course. How long depends on your skin, your skincare and how much sun you get.
Daily SPF and occasional maintenance treatments help keep your results on track.
Is SQT bio-microneedling worth it?
For many people, yes, especially if you want to work on texture, tone, congestion or breakout marks without needles. Results come from a course, not a single treatment.
It isn’t right for everyone. If firmness is your main goal, Genius RF Skin Tightening may suit you better, and we’ll tell you that at your assessment.
How much does SQT cost in Noosa?
A single Resurfacing or Revitalising treatment is $380, and Anti-Ageing or Body Clarifying is $480. Packages bring the price per treatment down and include take-home aftercare: $1,299 for four Resurfacing or Revitalising treatments, $1,699 for four Anti-Ageing and $1,275 for three Body Clarifying.
Each price covers one full area, such as the full face including under the eyes, the neck or the décolletage. Extra or larger areas are $150 per additional vial, and the full price list is above.
