Every Dermapen treatment at our Noosaville clinic starts with a skin assessment by our nurse-led team. We set the needle depth for each area, keeping it light around the eyes and going deeper where scarring needs it.
We apply numbing cream first, so most people find the treatment comfortable. Afterwards, we’ll recommend active skincare from our VI Derm and Medik8 ranges to support your results between sessions.

Acne scars and rough texture sit below the surface, which is why creams alone rarely shift them. Skin needling works where the problem is.
Rebuilding from underneath
Most acne scars are atrophic, meaning the skin has lost collagen and sunk below the surface. Dermapen creates thousands of tiny channels that prompt your skin to lay down new collagen and elastin, which helps soften the look of those dips over time.

The first week, day by day
Straight after: your skin looks pink to red, a bit like a mild sunburn, and can feel warm and tight. That’s the healing response switching on.
Days 1 to 2: redness usually settles within 12 to 48 hours. Most people are back at work the next day, and mineral makeup can cover any leftover pinkness.
Days 3 to 7: skin can feel a little dry or rough, and some people get light flaking. If your treatment was combined with a peel, expect more noticeable peeling from around day two, which can take up to a week to finish.
The weeks after: new collagen takes time to form. Most people start to see a difference four to six weeks after their first session, and skin keeps improving for many months after a course.
Wear SPF 50+ every day, skip active skincare and heavy exercise for the first couple of days, and let any flaking skin come away on its own.

How many treatments will I need?
The amount of treatments needed will vary between individuals depending on the condition of the skin and severity of lines and/or scarring. As a general recommendation:
• Scarring: 6 treatments, 2-4 weeks apart
• Rejuvenation: 3-6 treatments, 4 weeks apart
• Stretch marks: 10 treatments, 3 weeks apart

Will I experience downtime after my Dermapen treatment?
There will be facial redness that will last no longer than 12 to 48 hours post the treatment. Redness an be covered up by applying mineral makeup.
On rare occasions, you may also experience flaky skin post treatment. If you combine your dermapen treatment with a peel then this is a more intensive treatment and there will be moderate to heavy peeling generally starting after 2 days and may take up to a week to recover*.
Are the Dermapen treatments painful?
At The Cosmetic Studio Noosa we apply numbing cream to the area before treatment to reduce discomfort. Most people actually find the treatment quite comfortable and relaxing however areas such as the nose and forehead may be a little more sensitive.
If you are having deep scarring and lines treated then a deeper treatment is required which can sometimes be a little more uncomfortable but is generally well tolerated.
How long should I wait after a volumising treatment before having Dermapen skin needling?
Generally, we recommend waiting two weeks after a volumising treatment before having a Dermapen skin needling session.
Alternatively, you can have your Dermapen treatment first and then wait two weeks before undergoing any volumising procedure. This allows adequate time for your skin to recover between treatments.
How long until I see results from my treatment?
You may begin to see positive results 4-6 weeks* after your first treatment, however you will see more significant results after 4 to 6 sessions*.
Over the next 6 to nearly 12 months, you will continue seeing signs of improvement; the recommended post treatment care should be followed for best results. If you combine your dermapen treatment with a peel then you may even notice results after 1-2 weeks*.
Do I need to prepare my skin before having Dermapen?
No skin preparation is required before treatment with Dermapen. However we do recommend using active skincare in combination with your treatment for the best results.

How does the Dermapen work?
